Be Inspired By: Angela Stanton
On The 6th Proudly Presents To You Angela Stanton.
Not only is she an author, she is also a mentor and has a non profit organization titled "Dont Ask Just Tell" So take a minute and get to know Angela and be inspired.
In her own words:
I'm an author, a mentor, a mother, wife and founder of my own non profit organization Dontaskjusttell.org. I got my start at a young age. At the age of 5 I became of victim of the same crime that my organization fights today, sexual abuse.
My story is told in my sophomore book "Lies of a Real House Wife". People have a misconception, they seem to believe that it's a tell all book about Phaedra Parks. When really the only thing I'm writing about is my life! It's the story of a young girl who refused to give up and never stopped believing! It's a story of hope, a story of redemption, and a story about someone who made it against all odds.
Everything happens for a reason and everything has its season.
Right now I'm working on my non profit Don't Ask Just Tell. I'm also working on building my brand, spreading the truth about sexual abuse and how it destroys lives.
I want to do a Stop The Silence Tour! Where myself and other powerful women w/ stories can go city to city sharing our stories with women or young ladies that have walked similar paths. I want to show women that feel as though they can't make it, other women that have been where they are at & shared their same heartache; but yet & still they made it! Regardless of their circumstances. Against all odds.
My greatest accomplishment so far in life is loving myself, finally freeing myself from years of mental bondage. Becoming a better person by recognizing when I've done wrong, when I've been wronged. Accepting it all in, dealing with it and making a change for the better.
I love troubled children, my interest lies in them. I know for a fact, that if we can break through that hard crusty outer shell, there is a Diamond on the inside waiting to shine. Some of these children just need a little dusting off.
My ultimate goal in life, to know that I've made a difference. To know that all of my suffering wasn't in vain. Knowing that someone somewhere will pick up one of my books and change their mind after reading it.
What I like most about being in the business is the fact i have the ability to change lives. Just being that person to these children that I wish I had in my life 20 years ago.
I'm inspired by life lessons learned the hard way! But I've learned accepted & appreciated them all. All of my writing can be considered Crime Prevention! I talk about and share the stories that others want to sweep under the rug. We are Stopping the Silence, we refuse to allow the next person to become victimized.
My favorite job I've done so far is at a Christmas toy drive for City of Refuge shelter in Atlanta, Ga.
Negativity from the media, to be honest, it the beginning it bothered me. I believe it's because I have been fighting so long for my voice to be heard. It hurts when people choose to believe lies over truths, but over time I realized that more people were hearing my voice than I thought with that in mind it has made it easier for me. I know that after people read the book and get the whole story their perception of me changes. Besides we all know that what's done in the dark will eventually come to the light.
My advice for others , never ever give up! Don't believe the negative! You are great, you were not a mistake and you were sent here for a reason! Find your purpose and live in it.
I want to be remembered as a person that gave the world hope.
I want the world to know that God gets the glory for my life! I thank God for every person, every trial and very triumph.
A rumor I would love to squash is that I'm not being a snitch by telling my own story. I'm not mentally unstable as media and some other blogs would like you to believe. I'm not out to get anyone! I'm out to deliver, to heal, to encourage, to enlighten and to bring hope! Nobody can stop what God has for me! Stop The Silence.
